Meet The Coaches of Highlands Wrestling Club
Coach Prescott Weldon

Coach Prescott Weldon

Coach Prescott Weldon is the head coach for the Highlands Wrestling Club.  He wrestled for Father Ryan H.S. in Nashville, TN which is an elite program with over 20 state championships. He finished 2nd in the state and has never left the mat. He helped coach a high school program while in college and continued coaching when he moved to Abingdon. He is married with two boys and is a wildlife biologist. He has traveled all over the world but his favorite place to be is coaching HWC.

Coach Bill Edwards

Coach Bill Edwards is an assistant for the Highlands Wrestling Club. He did his high school wrestling in New York and was a multiple time Freestyle and Greco Roman state placer and qualifier for the Empire State Games. He wrestled on the inaugural King University team, graduating in 2009 with a Bachelor’s in Physics. He then competed in MMA, winning the PFC welterweight championship for Stryker Martial Arts Academy in Bristol.

Previously, Bill has served as an assistant for the King University women’s team, MMA instructor at Stryker, head middle school coach for Virginia Middle School, and, most recently, as an assistant at Abingdon High. In addition, he spends time coaching for Shad Rissler and the Warrior Wrestling Club in Calera, AL, coaching camps and at national tournaments. 


Coach Bill currently lives near downtown Abingdon and works for Contech Engineered Solutions.
